What is a Pediatric Dentist?

A pediatric dentist is a dentist who has completed an additional 2-3 years of training to specifically treat the dental needs of children, including children with special healthcare needs and children requiring an array of behavior management techniques, to include advanced anesthesia. After college, a pediatric dentist completes four years of dental school followed by a pediatric dental residency. After completion of their educational requirements, an optional board certification may be attempted to receive recognition from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. All providers at Vinall & Smith Pediatric Dentistry are board certified.
